Desert Dove Farm is always seeking enthusiastic individuals who are interested in helping with various volunteer opportunities. Listed below are some ways that you can become involved with our agency.

Promoting Community Awareness
We are always looking for individuals who want to help promote our program in the community by speaking with local groups and businesses about our program. Our work as a prevention program for at-risk youth makes this program inviting for community members to want to help. We offer interactive presentations at our facility and we need assistance in inviting people to attend. Every person that volunteers with Desert Dove Farm has their own unique network of people who may be interested in our work. If attendance at a presentation is not possible, often face to face meetings where photos of the kids working with horses gives individuals a very clear idea of how we help youth develop life skills. As our community support system grows so does the number of youth we are able to work with.
Group Assistant with Horses/Youth
The therapeutic team looks for enthusiastic and friendly individuals who are interested in working hands on with our clients and horses. Due to the intensity of our sessions, only one or two volunteers at a time may work with any group (we may have several groups at one time for varied opportunities). This involves committing to attending all 17 sessions for our Youth Development Program or all 10 sessions for our Family Support Groups. Scheduled group times vary depending upon the needs of our participants. These sessions have an incredible and lasting impact on participants and your role as a volunteer is crucial. You would be helping with setting up for sessions and interacting with the horses and clients.
All volunteers must have an informal meeting with the Executive Director before beginning any volunteer positions. There are not any requirements other than a desire to help youth and not be fearful of horses. We do not require that you have any horse experience and will train you on how to handle them safely. Some light lifting and being able to move around the arena freely are required.
